Dr Wong graduated from the National University of Singapore Faculty of Medicine in 1989. He was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1994 and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1999. He was then awarded the Ministry of Health HMDP Scholarship to train at the University of Pittsburgh and the UPMC Centre for Sports Medicine, specialising in treatment in disorders of the Foot and Ankle.

Subsequent to his fellowship, Dr Wong went on to complete a Master's of Science in Biomedical Engineering at the Nanyang Technological University, focusing on Orthopaedic Biomechanics, Sports Engineering, and Rehabilitation Engineering. He also won an award for 'Outstanding Project Dissertation' for his work in Ankle Prosthesis design for the treatment for ankle and subtalar joint arthritis.

Dr Wong was previously Senior Consultant and Director of the Sports Medicine Centre, Alexandra Hospital. He conducted the Sports Medicine Clinics, Foot and Ankle Clinics, and ran the High Risk Diabetic Foot Clinic in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team. Dr Wong has been Visiting Consultant at Alexandra Hospital, Changi General Hospital, and the National University Hospital.

He was previously Clinical Lecturer to the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, and a regular lecturer and past committee member for the Specialist Training Committee for Orthopaedic Surgery. He has lectured and conducted workshops in the areas of Sports Medicine, Orthopaedic Trauma and management of fractures, and Foot and Ankle Surgery both locally and abroad.

He has published numerous scientific articles in areas such as sports medicine and disorders of gait, orthopaedic trauma, dance medicine, total ankle arthroplasty, degenerative flat foot, diabetic foot, and clinical biomechanics. He also co-authored a book chapter on the surgical techniques for Total Ankle Replacement. He is a past reviewer for numerous journals including Foot and Ankle International, Singapore Medical Journal and Journal of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Dr Wong manages the full range of foot and ankle problems including ankle and subtalar arthrtis, total ankle replacement, hallux valgus (bunions) and rigidus, ankle instability and osteochondral injuries, tendon injuries and degenerative flat foot, diabetic foot problems, and calcaneal fractures.

Dr Wong also manages sports medicine injuries such as anterior cruciate injures (ACL), posterior cruciate (PCL) and posteroloateral corner (PLC) injuries of the knee, patella instability, shoulder dislocations and instability, and labral tears of the hip.

He continues to have a strong interest in general orthopaedic trauma including upper and lower limb trauma, and the management of late complications of orthopaedic trauma including malunions and nonunion.
