Biographical Summary

Training and Teaching:

  • Organized the 1st Deuce Bicompartment Knee Replacement Workshop in Asia in 2008.
  • Facilitated a cadaveric course in Hip and Knee Minimally Invasive Approaches in 2007.
  • Helped organize the 2nd Asian Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery Meeting in 2005.
  • Invited speaker on osteoporosis locally and abroad.

Innovative Techniques:

  • Pioneered the use of minimally invasive surgery in hip and knee arthroplasty, computer-assisted surgery, alternative bearings in hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, revision arthroplasty, and multi-modal pain management.

Research and Patient Care:

  • Principal Investigator in ongoing Phase II and III clinical drug trials on the prevention of deep vein thrombosis after total knee replacement.
  • Chaired and assisted in projects aimed at enhancing patient safety.
  • Attended Joint Commission International Advanced Practicum for Accreditation, Quality Improvement, and Patient Safety in Chicago in 2007.

Scholarship and Training:

  • Awarded the Ministry of Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship in 2001 to train at Toronto Western Hospital in Adult Reconstruction in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty. Extended training at various hospitals in Ontario, including the Orthopaedic and Arthritis Institute, Mt Sinai Hospital, and London Health Sciences Centre.
